Only three DeLoreans left the factory with 24k-gold plated body panels. The idea was originally thought up by American Express, who wanted to sell 100 examples to its gold card members for $85k. Turns out only three ever happened. I remember reading one of them lived in a bank in Texas for quite a while. Apparently there is a 4th gold played DeLorean in NY, but it's an aftermarket job.

I may be disseminating a new internet legend, but there was one at the bank in Texas, as you said, but I remember seeing one as a kid at an exotic car place in CT right after a hell of a hail storm, while the owner/sole proprietor was at lunch. It was very wavy after that, and SS isnt easy to pull dents out of either, so I am not sure of the fate of it. There was a brushed one that suffered the same fate right next to it. Ah to have the potato cam in 1988 or so

Not sure if this is the one but there's a Golden Delorean up in one of the Reno casinos. It's famous for not having a door when built so the new door doesn't match the rest of the car but it's still gold.

It's not at a casino - it's at the Harrah's National Auto Museum . Awesome way if you're rich to own a ton of bad-ass cars and get people to subsidize their cost of ownership. :)
