They don't count when the numbers have been spray painted over, right? RIGHT?

I think that sign is for Ferrari only.

35 km/h? Really? Where is this?

I dunno about that, but they definitely don't count when units are metric. So, you're good to go.

In the US (which this clearly isn't giving km/h) yellow signs are "advice" or "caution" not a requirement.
If on a road with a 55 mph speed limit (white sign) that has a curve ahead and it has a yellow 35 mph sign, it's a recommendation not a requirement.
:)

I know, but you'll have to figure it oot.

According to my drivers handbook, Page 43, Section C, Table IV:
When red paint is observed on a informational speed limit sign, the displayed limit is null and void. Proceed at an unlimited pace.

And you can safely go double the speed of most of those advisory speeds on curves.
Makes me think, are those speeds written for 1930s automotive performance?

Nope, written for old people who can barely see over the wheel I think...

True in a car, but as I've learned from driving the rally rig if you're in a big truck with a trailer you better treat those yellow signs as motherfucking gospel

I had a cop pull me over after coming off a highway exit that tried to argue I was "speeding" because the "limit" is 25mph.
But the highway was 65mph, and the road I exited on was 50, and that's about what I was doing after I scrubbed off enough speed from the howling tires on my Firebird.
I knew the sign was just a "suggested" speed, and he let me go with a verbal warning about "reckless driving" and some "what ifs".

Haha oh yes over a certain tonnage those signs DO apply.

Obviously the proper authorities did that.

Last I checked, the current regs are actually made to the automotive standards of 1970.
combined with driver training from 1970, it isn't shocking.
On highway offramps that say anywhere from 60km/h-80km/h, I can do 120 without even feeling the loss of traction. The ramps are banked too, so thank you to whichever engineers built in those angles.

I believe you are correct. However, there is a high school near me (TX) that has a yellow School Crossing sign, with a yellow 35 underneath it. Otherwise, the posted speed is 45. I've always wondered if that yellow speed is actually required.

In most states there is a "general speed law" which states something along the lines of reasonableness or an appropriate speed for the conditions.
Further, you're typically not ticketed for disobeying a traffic signal (the speed limit sign), but instead for breaking a law on the books setting the speed limit. The speed limit is usually set by law and the sign is only a convenience to the motorist. ;)

No officer, I don't own that red spray paint at all

Nice, back when from the factory cars had crappy skinny tires and giant vehicles up off the ground which enjoy quite a bit of body roll on these ramps.

That's a tricky one because school zone. It may be yellow because it's only enforced while school is in session?
I'd probably play it safe through that stretch.

I always do. I walk my boys to the neighborhood elementary school, and I often see a couple of county sheriff motor deputies working the school zone in the morning. I'll have to ask them about it.

That's honestly the best way to know how to handle the signage. They can be tricky sometimes, and honestly - ask a couple of them. I've gotten different interpretations from different officers before about certain traffic situations (yes that's disappointing lol). I will say it's good to hear they actually but a good watch on the school zones!
