How many of those were built? How many still had working headlights two years later?

If I understand correctly they are manually (mechanically) operated by a lever on on the center console. In theory they should be nearly as reliable as a gear shifter. Not sure if thats true in reality.

Well, you don't always have the luxury of knowing that rain's gonna turn to ice. Source: my first two cars had popups, and I got stranded a few times with headlights that were iced down. Pain in the ass.
