It’s been a busy month of exciting things happening this August at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in Great Falls, Virginia. The weekly auto drive-in and show has recently grown in popularity this Summer, thanks to more frequent appearances of extremely rare and expensive cars, such as an original Cunningham C2R that first made an appearance on May 25th (and a return trip on August 17th)…

…and more recently, two separate Bugatti Veyrons. The first made an appearance on July 6th, coming from nearby Volkswagen corporate offices in Dulles, and a second, privately owned Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport on August 10th, which flew in earlier this month on a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight to Washington Dulles International Airport, and has been seen touring its way up the Eastern seaboard. This is the same Veyron which has been spotted in Georgetown, downtown Washington, DC, and most recently !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , just yesterday.

All this attention hasn’t gone unnoticed by local automotive enthusiasts of car news website and blog, Jalopnik, and this past Saturday (August 24th), a number of Jalops (active members of the Jalopnik community) met to enjoy a Cars and Coffee event at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Among the group was Washington, DC based Jalopnik writer, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , who arrived in a Cadillac ATS on loan to him for review.

The group met in the company of fellow car lovers, and toured this weekend’s Cars and Coffee offerings, stopping to chat with drivers, and discuss interesting stories of ownership, and automotive history behind some manufacturers and their innovations.

The meet was an amazing success, only made better by perfect weather. The group stood for a picture in front of the classic Bently, and parted ways, until the next time we choose to meet. A special thanks to Nick for helping organize, who unfortunately was unable to attend.

The pictured Bugatti was there on August 10th, and was backed into by a truck in NYC just yesterday lol.

It's not the owner driving it; it's a "hired vehicle handler." The owner is somehow connected to the Saudi Arabia embassy, from what I've heard.

Is there any chance you could give any full-res sauce on any Alfa Romeo, SLS AMG, and interior pictures you may have of those two as well? I feel like they'd make such lovely PC and phone backgrounds! All your photos are so well lit and I'm sure you've touched them up a little as well. I love your style!

I live about 10 minutes outside of Great Falls, where this event takes place and go as often as I can... I can assure you that wasn't the first time a Veyron was there. Always such an amazing turn out, its worth getting up at the ass-crack of dawn for.

That Morgan is one of 2 here on the east coast. The other one (which is silver) is owned by a collector in Morris County, NJ. there are a total of 11 in the US, with the remaining 9 on the west coast.

There's a 190SL that I saw this past weekend, light blue. Simply gorgeous. Wish there could be a cars and coffee around me, but it's hard to find an establishment that could accommodate it locally for me...

Ok, I think I'm going to go on a road trip someday — and plan it around the best Cars and Coffee events in the US. I'll have to add this one to my list...

Also, our Cars and Coffee of the Upstate (SC) isn't nearly as fantastic, but this past Saturday we did have a super-rare Ferrari F40 LM (supposedly 1 of around 10 ever built), and a sort-of-rare but 100% funky Qvale Mangusta — among the regular Ferraris, Porsches, Astons, hot rods, imports, etc. Strangely, we are noticeably lacking in Lamborghinis...

I think I saw that same MP4-12C in Middleburg, VA when I was out on a motorcycle ride Sunday afternoon. Same color, same wheels, and definitely a convertible!

I'll have to hit this up sometime soon. I've lived in NoVA my whole life (most of it right next to Great Falls) and never knew about this gathering!

So the first time I heard about this Great Falls Cars & Coffee meet I searched my hometown on Instagram, #greatfalls. I started seeing all sorts of amazing cars and thought to myself how and I missing this? I then realized there is a Great Falls, VA and I live in Great Falls, MT. Sad realization.

I never said the Saudi Veyron was the first - this red one is from the VW HQ in Dulles, and did indeed come on July 6th. I was not present for it.

There's a tuner community that shows too. Katie's C&C is about love of all cars, old and new, so long as it's interesting. It does have an exotic / rare / antique leaning, but an FR-S is certainly not out of place; particularly this and it's BRZ cousin who often show together. They both have some pretty extensive mods.

Glad you liked it! I'm using a 5D Mark II with a 35mm f/1.4L USM and an 85mm f/1.2L II USM. A few shots of the 1949 Buick Convertible were shot using a 90mm f/2.8 Tilt-Shift lens. Color tonality is brought out in Lightroom 5.

I saw the Mercedes SL with the name tag but couldn't find the owner. I also peeked inside the ATS because it's the first one I've seen on the road. I had no idea it was Patrick's loaner car or that this meet up was happening though! I just attend every couple of weeks to see what shows up. Sadly, I missed the Carrera GT and the pearl white Bugatti :( Sleeping in means missing out folks.

I believe it starts at 8. Doesn't require you to get up at 5 since there's plenty of parking as well. Might not be any Veyrons or vintage machines there, but there's still a decent turnout of good folks.
