You know, I'd like to get up on my high horse, look down on these unwashed Russian drivers and tsk in condescending disapproval, but after getting stuck in traffic twice today because of serious, but similarly stupid accidents, it doesn't feel right.

Me too. I have a left lane ending exit I take both to and from work. The entertainment value of the people who insist on riding in the left lane only to have to bail out at the last moment alone is totally worth it.
