I held a (likely illegal) abandoned-2-lane-road-in-the-middle-of-nowhere drag race this afternoon between my friends 1969 Toronado with the Olds 455 and my 2005 Chevy Malibu MAXX V6 loaner car. After a 1/4 mile the Malibu MAXX's nose was ahead of the Toronado's by about 5 feet. We only got up to about 75-80mph.

Should've called it the Malibu MINN. Look at that tiny excuse for a slit of a rear window...

I never really understood the MAXX version of the Malibu... They lengthened the roof, sure, but eliminated about 1 foot off the length of the trunk, and the resulting proportions are just awkward as all fuck - sort of a pseudo-wagon with no space, or a gigantic hatchback. Not really any more usable space than the sedan, and it just looks weird.
And seriously, i get that it was designed in the early 00's, so they were obligated to add an "X" to everything possible (or two, in this case, because its XTRA XTREME, i guess); but "MAXX" isn't even an acronym, why the fuck should we capitalize it??

The sad thing is that olds was dead before they offered the ls series engines in fwd. Bring back the Toronado!

Olds was dead before they came out. Sorry if it wasn't clear that that's what I meant.
