I've gotten an assignment for history class today on significant events and technologies since the 1980's, and was wondering what were important events for the Automotive Industry. I've noted a few thoughts, but was wondering if you guys had any good information? Such as technology, companies, inventions, and whatever else you can think of. Any information is much appreciated. Thanks.

Oh wow, anti lock brakes becoming standard, traction control, 4 cylinder engines that make +300HP that are reliable, safety (the Model S is the safest car in the world now), navigation, v8 can get up to 30mpg now, the dual clutch transmission. That's just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Keyless entry. Ever try putting a key in a car door these days? (Assuming there's even a tumbler for it.) It just feels weird.
