!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is a site that's really fun to search, in a kind of morbid way. And as I've posted a couple of times in the last week or so, a lot of parts cars were apparently for sale right up until the moment of their demise.

Ever wonder what happens to those sub-$2K used-car specials when they sit on the lot too long? Well, usually they're sold for scrap and carted off to the local pick-your-part. Euthanized, really. It's kind of like what happens to the strays at the shelter who aren't adopted.

And it's been strangely (and sadly) fascinating to see what cars meet this fate. A few are understandable, but some are cars I'd have bought for the asking price in a heartbeat. Have a look for yourselves:

BMW 3 Series - $1,599

BMW 5 Series - $1,999

Infiniti J30 - $1,199

Infiniti Q45 - $1,790 (Even Memorial Day Sale! wasn't enough to move it.)

Jaguar S-Type - $1,799

Land Rover Discovery - $1,899

Land Rover Freelander - $1,699 (Even still has the flag in the window)

Lexus ES300 - $1,299

Lexus LS400 - $1,199

Mazda Millenia - $1,350

Mercedes-Benz E-Class - $1,999

Volvo S70 - $1,599 (looks like the scavengers went to town on this one)

Volvo S80 - $1,999

What shocks me the most is that these are all post-1990 cars in decent condition.

They're scattered all over. Though most tend to be in California, the Midwest, or the Pacific Northwest.
