The movies were awesome. The music sucked (mostly).

Cars were "meh". I can't remember a lot of times where I said "wow, a 198X ____", I really want one of those.

I agree, but there was SOME ok music from the 80s. Not much though. As far as cars. ...only the testarossa comes to mind for cars that came out of the 80s.

Sure, I made sure to qualify that statement about music. It wasn't all bad. As for cars, the Testarossa and Countach come to mind, neither was particularly "good" but were good poster material when I was a kid.
