So, next december my local premium taxi network will selling a fleet of Mercedes.

It's a 2003 base model C230 W203. And I think maybe I'll get the one of them, since it's nice looking, economical, and black.

The prices are all the same 5.2k (MSRP was 40k back then) . But the mileage is astronomical, since it's a taxi. What do you think, oppo?

I'm not sure where you are. Here in the US, Mercs drop off to that level of depreciation anyway so its sill to look at a high mile taxi...but I can't comment on mystery plate country.

It's a standard Jakarta Region plate.

I'm in Indonesia

If it's a privately owned one-driver well maintained taxi that's priced well? Sure. I met a German taxi driver in his 1987 w124 200D last year who himself bought that car new and has been driving that ever since. A car can live a very long life like that. However, if it's a company car that's driven by many people and/or the maintenance is dodgy I'd run away.

Wow. That's one hell of a taxi!

Anyway, It's a company car. There's 80 of them.

Usually they're driven by only one driver, since that's the rules in here. But I have no idea about the car's maintenance. I'm worried about the engine and trasmission tough.

I'd stay away from those taxis, I'd compare them to rentals. Many miles driven by people who don't own them and have no vested intrest in taking care of them.

That's the thing. If you don't know the maintenance history, you could get a cream puff that's been babied and serviced at every interval/hint of something wrong, or a car that was rode hard and put up wet.

That, plus its a Merc. Over here that means lotsa $$$$$ to fix when it breaks, and it will. Usually.

Yep, perfect ayamobile. For emergency situations that S600 couldn't handle, like traffic jam.

I think that part is very well-mantained.

Just watch out for women with bazookas, they're dangerous.

Ya, it will.

Altough C-Class it's pretty reliable, but I got a feeling that one day something will fall off and break in a very spectacular way.

Well I do know that out of all the Mercs, the E is suppose to be the most reliable.

Well taxis have to be maintained decently to some degree to reach the mileage and not break down every so often. Every minute not on the road delivering passengers is lost revenue to a taxi company.

Isn't "never, ever buy an ex-company car" the first rule of buying used?

Run Away! Taxis see hard, hard miles and are fixed indifferently and as quickly as possible when they break down. They are also usually in a lot of accidents compared to privately owned cars.

On top of that think of how many drunk people have puked in it.
