Mine is the peckerwood on the right.
This was at a Sheriff's station when I was getting my dumb fix-it ticket sorted out last weekend. I gave a cop $10 to pull his head out of the front door of the station and check my windows. Basically.
L.A. gets a lot of sunlight, people. I'd like to keep cool and protect my interior. Apparently California doesn't think so.

Luckily in Colorado, 15% rear window tint isn't frowned upon nearly as much as most places. Hoping Michigan feels the same way.

And that other fucker Subaru had front window tint, by the way! And he was parked in front of a bunch of cops!
That shit made me mad.

As far as I'm aware you can have your rear windows as dark as you want in California. You could duct tape them for all they care. Any and all tinting on the front, driver, and front passenger side windows is illegal, though.

Really? Mines sitting at like 15% rear and 30% side windows (I think). Seems to go over well.

Sup!
I'm running 30% all around (except front, of course). No issues yet, but then again I'm not in hellish L.A. *shudder*

California tint law says the front 3 windows are illegal no matter what? So they are the same as new jersey... I hate our tint laws, they need to be revised.

Wait? What did they stop you for?

You should be okay in the Mitten, I've had pretty dark (read: illegal) tint on my windows for over a year and only got pulled over once for it, but didn't get a ticket as it was 4/20 and the officer was really looking for drugs. I didn't have any.

They stopped me for having my front passenger and driver's side window tinted. 50%.

That's just dumb... don't they have anything better to do?
Whys it such a big deal?
