Oh this is the anime/manga that the Z31 scale model I found last week comes from! I believe it was called Yoroshiku Mechadoc and there are sadly enough no English subtitles available for it, nor any ways to watch it that I can find other than importing a DVD set from Japan. Googling about it didn't turn up much info other than some old forum threads on a Celica Supra forum, but seems it's about some guy (the one driving the Mk. II Celica XX/Supra) who runs a speed shop with some friends and race both on the streets and on track (with the Tsukuba Circuit being featured in at least one episode).

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

From what I can gather from that he drives several cars throughout the several seasons of the show (which aired in the early 80s, '84-'85 I believe), including a Z31 Fairlady 300ZR (which was brand spanking new then) in one of the later seasons. Other than that and the various clips on Youtube, I'm afraid I don't know anything else about it. I'm considering ordering the Manga from Japan if I start studying Japanese soon(-ish), since the anime's animation is pretty damn choppy and crude (which is mostly noticeable during the racing scenes).
