Washing my car this evening...

...reminded me why I've paid someone to do it for me the past couple of times. For such a small car, the Elise takes a surprisingly long time to wash, and all the kneeling and bending over really kicks your ass (maybe I should buy some knee pads). On a positive note, the TE37s are a lot quicker and easier to clean than the OEM Lotus sport package wheels (which are a goddamn nightmare to clean in any color other than black).

Heh, I typically despise manual labor of any kind.

Except washing my car. I love washing my car about as much as Hank Hill loves mowing his lawn. It's, like, my zen, man.

You could pay me in Cheez-Its and I'd have the Elise shining like a supernova.

How many Cheez-Its are we talking, here? A box? A pallet? An entire plant's output for a year?

I think part of it has to do with living in an apartment and having to deal with using the "community car wash area", which is little more than a designated parking spot with a hose... which also happens to be on the exact opposite side of the complex from my garage (which contains all of my detailing supplies and a CR Spotless Rinse system that I haven't had the opportunity to utilize much).

You live in an apartment and have an Elise with TE37's? Is the Elise your only car?

Oh, yeah. That doesn't sound like the kind of relaxing experience I'm used to. I live in an apartment too, but mine doesn't even have a car washing spot. When I need to wash my car, I take a nice, long drive twisting through the California countryside to my family's avocado farm out in Somis. It's pretty much pure bliss from the time I leave my place to the moment I get back with a squeaky clean car.

As a young, single guy, I don't really see the point in paying more to rent a house over a 1-bedroom apartment, and I don't feel that I'm quite ready to buy just yet. The Elise is my daily driver for most of the year, but I have a '97 BMW 318ti for when there's salt on the roads or when I need to haul anything larger.

On the off chance that you live anywhere near the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area, I could probably make good on that request.

Just get a four post lift. That way you can stand up straight and wash it.

Unfortunately, no, mine is not a California Edition.
