For the past few days I've been working on a Honda Accord 1995 with the 2.2 non-vtec engine. It would crank but would not start. After changing a few parts, it now starts and runs smoothly, but the alternator is not charging at all and there's the battery light on while the engine is running on the dash. The voltage is the same from the battery to the alternator. After a few minutes, it dies because the battery has no juice left and to start it again it needs a boost. I thought that if I let it run while my car was boosting it, the battery light would go off but it stays on. I've checked the fuses and only the Radio, cig lighter fuse was burned, which I've changed with a fresh one. I don't want to go to the conclusion that the alternator died yet. Is there anything I need to check before that? Maybe Honda's has a few tricks that I don't know about alternators.

Immediately swap your engine for the H22 with VTEC.

Go to the auto parts store and have them test the alt. my guess is its a bad alt. Typically when the battery light comes on it is because the alternator is not charging and the car is running off the battery.

You should be getting significantly more voltage coming out of the alternator than the battery reads. Assuming your alternator has a built in rectifier, you should be seeing 14+ volts on the output side. If you are seeing only 12 volts or less, you probably need an new alternator or rectifier.

Chassis ground/Valve cover ground. Transmission/Chassis ground. Do you have a custom stereo?

I wanted to but they wont do it with the alternator removed and I can't move the car in the current state.

Nope she doesn't. It's all stock and the grounds looked good.

DAMN I forgot about the rectifier! I learned all that at school but it's been a while that I haven't checked an alternator completely. It is built in. I'll try to get a used one.

Alternator signal wire, have you had that replaced. Is it starting and then dying? Error code 15?

It starts with a boost. You see the battery voltage draining slowly and as soon as it hits close to 10 V, it dies. There's no error codes that I get if I jump the blue connector at the passenger side.

Forgot to tell you. It was a dead alternator. I exchanged it with a rebuild one and it worked flawlessly!
