Actually, we've never touched them. We've discussed trimming that bit to make it match the rest, but we've decided we like it this way.

Years ago, I managed a tree farm. We used to do that to Spruce trees to make them more appealing as Christmas trees.Way too close together. Should cut out several to let the others have room to grow. (But that is just the tree grower in me coming out).
