Last time I was karting there was someone 10 seconds a lap slower, on a 21s lap...

Be weary of the Karting hubris. My local track is pretty awesome, close to half a mile long, 9hp karts, around 50 mph on the straights, the whole shebang.
A while ago, a friend and I bought all day passes at the kart track. We proceeded to destroy everyone else who had come by for a quick rental. Kids, bachelor parties, whatever, it didn't matter, we were faster.
Then suddenly, a random dude showed up, got on the track and positively made me and my friend his bitch. Like, i couldn't hang with him for 2 corners bitch. Like multiple seconds a lap bitch.
15 minutes later, his time was up. He climbed out of his kart, went to the parking lot and drove off in his Prius.
