What was inside after the gap.
Harmonic balancer, cam kit, timing chain, trans adapter plate, and a dipstick. I now need cam bearings (I forgot to order those). Anyone know if Autozone has a cam bearing installation tool as part of their tool borrowing program?

Mmmmmmm..... camshafts....
Now you need to play with intakes and velocity stacks for ultimate optimized engine sex. You should definitely do video/audio when you have the new cam in.

I'm using a factory 4 barrel intake (I took a dremel to the ports). I can't have stacks (sadface), I have a shaker.

Use loctite on your freeze plugs. They can be a bitch if they pop out.

I don't know anything about your engine, but you might look into getting your top end ready for your new cam. Horsepower TV (I know right?) did a great episode on port and polish. If you do it right you should make an extra 20 or 30 on the top end with that cam and stock heads. Plus it doesn't cost anything and it'll run better overall.

I just picked up a set of heads that at one point (relatively recently) had a valve job done. I ported the intake and exhaust ports. I also ported a factory 4 barrel intake.

Very cool. You should keep oppo posted when you inevitably get some badass cylinder heads and nitrous oxide or some shit.
