Ever since the catastrophe with the Chevy C10, I've been quite upset and unmotivated by project cars and project car ideas. BUT, I've still been fascinated by the idea of a modern engine in an old truck. So first, I stumbled upon !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , a little forum thread detailing LS swaps, and doing a little price breakdown on swaps as well.
After the parents shot down the C10 as a driver for me, my dad said I could get a project, it just wouldn't/couldn't be something that I could drive around, at least not right away. But, because of the way I am, I NEED something to work on, and a project car is a need. I have the 350 Mazda for now, but at the end of the day, that's my brother's project, I just happen to be the one putting all the work into it. He's going to take it down to his new house in SD in a month or so.
And then I found !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , a motorless, complete project of a 1958 Chevy Apache stepside truck. Just the right amount of patina, and a (hopefully) clean and rust free body, and a good platform for a bitchin street truck. If the truck were cheaper (needs to be under a grand), it'd be a good deal, and an LS could be swapped in all told for under 4 grand or so (depending on engine/trans/rear axle combo). What say you Oppo? I think it'd be a sweet project, and I just might be able to convince my parents to let me blow my money on it.
