Insert Yo Dawg meme about boats in your boat here.
I just got back from a quick trip to Ketchikan and Metlakatla Alaska to see family. Spotted this beauty at Ketchikan on my way back to the airport on Sunday. Here's another shot.
It's the Serene. She's 134m (440ft) long, has 12 state rooms, 2 helipads 1 with a hanger, a submarine and multiple baby boats inside. When it was built in 2011 it was among the top 10 largest yachts. She is owned by Yuri Shefler, who also owns Stolichnya Vodka.
After seeing this yacht it made me feel like a common peasant even though I was sitting in first class on my flight home.
Oh well, at least I got to enjoy a few more of the fine brews from Alaskan Brewing Company. And I took a pretty decent shot of Metlakatla from the air too.

I saw this mega yacht in San Diego back in June. It's the Luna , and it belongs to Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich. At age 46 (my age), Abramovich is worth $14bn. He also owns the Chelsea Football Club. The 115m Luna, built by Lloyd Werft and Stahlbau Nord, is the world's largest expedition yacht. Apparently, Abramovich was paying around $5000/day to berth the Luna in San Diego. He even paid for portable spotlights across the street to illuminate the yacht at night.

The larger ship is not the Exxon Valdez, so any PWCs dispatched to put aquatic mutants in their place will be much classier.

OK, I was in envy of the guy when reading this till I got to the end. Spotlights to shine on his monstrous fucking yacht that 0.01% of the people in the world can afford? The guy is officially a fucking asshole. He doesn't need to rub it in that he's mega wealthy.

"The upgrading of business and the downgrading of coach [seating on commercial aircraft] present a fairly faithful mirror of what’s happening in the larger economy: the disappearance of the middle class. As University of California-Berkeley economist Emmanuel Saez has documented, between 2009 and 2011, the incomes of the wealthiest 1 percent of American families grew by 11.2 percent while those of the remaining 99 percent shrunk by 0.4 percent. Median household income has declined every year since 2008. Profits, meanwhile, have risen to their highest share of the nation’s economy since World War II, while wages have sunk to their lowest share. In an economy such as this, the growing markets are the rich and corporations, which have more money to spend on luxury travel, and the downwardly mobile everyone else, whose travel options are increasingly confined to discount outfits like Spirit and the increasingly hellacious coach sections of other airlines."
A hard landing for the middle class , Harold Myerson, Washington Post

This yacht called Vango spend every summer in my local harbour. It's got it's own helicopter. It's crew often come into the grocery store where I work to stock up the kitchens.
