See those two purple lights there? Those are invisible. For whatever reason cheap digital cameras can visualize the infrared light from a television remote. Grab your phone, open up the camera, and point it at a remote and press some buttons!

Ah. I was guessing something along those lines — the aftermarket mirrors looked like they'd work on a YJ and nothing else, really.
Nice article you linked to, by the way. I'm a TJ owner. I haven't experienced the engine-will-break or transmission-will-break noises yet, but I own only a few pairs of pants which don't have missing belt loops.
