Take one commie-built, two stroke sedan that looks like a refrigerator, add one American V8 engine, give it to some crazy Hungarians, and what do you have? The V8 Wartburg!

You just have to give them respect for their workmanship! I suspect that we are looking at a little more than an engine swap. The Wartburg 356 was FWD, this car obviously isn't. The body is also sitting a little high on the axles. My guess is that they put this body on some 'murrican frame.

You are right, and judging by the steering column inside the car it seems like a truck frame. I would love to find more details on this beast, perhaps we need to enlist Jalopnik's resident Hungarian to dig for further information.
