The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! has been solved! After checking the sparkplugs and come to the conclusion that they were perfectly fine, I was left with no other option than to pull the valve covers. I was really fearful of this moment, thinking that the only other thing that could be wrong with the engine was that the cam had been grounded to the ground.

"Thankfully", however it turns out that it was only the bolt holding the rocker arm that had broken in two. Hopefully I'll only need to replace the bolt and the poncho 350 should be up and running like a champ again. Now this shouldn't be a problem, but because I live in Sweden sourcing one of these little fuckers is probably gonna be a real PITA, but hopefully not impossible.

That sure would be a problem.

International shipping from summitracing or jegs?

That would be my last resort as shipping from the states can sometimes take ages. Firstly I've got a local "speed shop" that specializes in american v8 parts I'm gonna check with. However they're closed during the weekend, so the earliest I could have it by would be Monday. Then there's also a larger swedish company that basically stocks almost everything that summit stocks. Though they only have one large warehouse, which is pretty far away from me so I'm gonna have to order the part by mail, but they should definitely have it. But in case they don't, there's also a few junkyards around here that has a lot of american cars...

As obtaining parts seems troublesome, I would order at least 3 new bolts and 2 sets of new gaskets.

Good idea! If the bolt turns out to be hard to come by I'll definitely order a couple, I mean they can't be that expensive can they? Already got me an extra set of valve cover gaskets, though that was really due to a miss order, but I'm gonna say it was intentional just to seem smart.

At least you're in Sweden. They seem by far the most friendly towards American cars.

Well I don't know much about engines, but I don't think that's supposed to look like that. Just sayin'.

Google says: If your engine is stock, then the rocker arm studs are most likely pressed-in; therefore, installing a new stud may not be so easy. If your rocker arm studs are bolt-in, then replacement may be easier. You may also be asked to purchase a full (new) set, which could become expensive. Aftermarket studs typically require head removal, then milling and tapping to accept the bolt-in studs. You might also need a form of Loctite as well as a torque wrench.

Yup I'm on the same page as you now searching for info about them. Mine were bolt-ins and I will as you say likely have to buy the hole set.

But the thing about you having to remove the head and mill it to be able to fit em got me thinking. They're just regular poncho 6X smog heads, but if some previous owner took the time to replace the push-in studs with bolt-ins wouldn't it also be very likely that that he got them milled and ported at the same time to accommodate for a bigger bang (more powaaaaa)? I mean the car feels seriously bat shit crazy fast when it's working properly...

Glad to hear you're going to be able to find the part!

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find one specifically for a Pontiac. However I did find one for AMC, Ford and Chevy that has the same thread that I require. Judging from a picture of it, it also looks very similar to the one that broke. If all goes well I should have it by Wednesday and be back up and running in no time.
