I couldn't resist the temptation to cause a ruckass on the front page. On the AOTD thread I suggested that the term redneck might be racist. In less than 4 minutes i have 8 new notifications.
Also for amusement I just got a text message from my dad. He is at my house right now installing a gas line so our dryer can be hooked up at our new house (it is setup for electric). The text message reads "How do I open the door to your dryer?" Clearly he hasn't done much laundry in 35 years of marriage.

You know... natural gas. Runs your furnace and hot water heater? In some cases your range/stove. In my case the dryer.

Interesting indeed. I had a gas furnace, never have had or even seen a gas dryer. Probably a good thing since I never paid the gas bill.

We opted for a gas dryer for our new home. It's actually more efficient than electric dryers of comparable price and, as gas is cheap 10 months out of the year, more cost effective too.

Maybe it's not racist... but it is certainly a derogatory term for somebody who is different. No different than the words used for ethnic groups or gender or sexual orientation or political preference or mental disabilities... If people are going to make a stink about a few words, then they need to make a stink about them all. I personally think all the PC bull is getting way outta hand. But I applaud you for calling that one out. White folks have as much right as anyone else to call people out for using a word they find offensive.
