What's better than a beautiful, practically-new BMW E92 M3 in Interlagos Blue with only 18,000 miles on the clock? How about the same beautiful, low-mileage M3, but with a full race car conversion and an eye-catching vinyl wrap to make it stand out on the race track and in the paddock.
This is the latest E92 M3 race car conversion that Turner Motorsport has performed for a customer. The 2008 M3 coupe came to the shop in full factory trim. The customer requested that the vehicle be made into a dedicated track machine, similar in many ways to the Turner Motorsport #96 and #97 Grand Sports (GS) cars that compete in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.
After the vehicle came in we stripped it of almost all of the modern day luxuries and features. Out went the leather-appointed interior, and in its place, a full roll cage, Recaro race seat and other safety equipment necessary for competition use. The factory roof was removed and a custom carbon fiber unit took its place. However, not everything was removed. The stock instrument cluster, center console, navigation system and even the power window operations were retained at the customer's request.
The list of performance mods was not too extensive, but was diverse and covered most areas of the vehicle. Included was an aFe Power intake to help suck in as much air as possible. Next an Akrapovic Evolution Titanium Exhaust System was fitted giving the S65 V8 a much more aggressive and menacing sound. The suspension was lowered for added handling and cornering ability and a StopTech big brake kit was added to improve stopping power compared to the stock setup. To round out the package a set of Forgeline forged alloy wheels were wrapped in sticky Hoosier rubber.

While it may do that, are you sure it's not to add lightness and some extra horsepower (you know, because racecar)?
