80's Monday, what did you (or your parents) drive?

The Chrysler Conquest TSI, which was my dad's non-DD for a few years before we moved to Ohio. Apparently it spent a lot of time in the shop due to a dodgy turbo setup. It was a neat car, that met its end thanks to some asshole who decided to have a lot of drinks and drive. Luckily, it was safe enough for us occupants, but dad decided to give up the car for something more family-oriented.

What were your rides for the 80's?

Me dad had a 2CV when I was born, me mum had a first gen Honda Civic. They soon got a Citroën DS pallas, when I was about two years old they traded that for a Datsun cherry, when I was three they got a '80 Opel Kadett D Caravan. After that there was another Kadett Caravan, and a couple of Honda Accords.. and then we hit the nineties..

I was born in april 1981.

Wasn't born in the 80's, but if I remember correctly my dad drove a white Renault 4 (no idea which year or model) that he had bought for a symbolic Franc from my great-grandmother.

Kinja'd!!!

He still had it when I was very little, then sold it (or had it scrapped is more likely) and bought a super-cool (at least to me) dark blue Peugeot 405 estate. This one is silver because I couldn't find a picture of a blue one.

Volvo 240 wagon is the one I remember the most strongly, and what a fine choice it was.

What the rest of Brazil was driving, a Chevrolet Monza.

Kinja'd!!!

More specifically a 2.0 Monza Classic sedan, exactly like the one pictured above. 1987 was the year my parents bought their first brand new car, trading in an old Chevette for the Monza. The Monza was also the first all new car to be released in Brazil since the 60's (everything else was just a rehash of late 60's early 70's models produced well into the 80's) and the non purely economical car geared at middle class buyers.

1988 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency Brougham. Blue with white vinyl top and blue interior. Wire wheel covers. All the plush comfiness you could possibly want.

Also, a Chevy Blazer. I care about this one less because Dad traded a Corvette for it. "We like skiing, want a 4x4, and we're having a kid." Yeah, well, the kid hates skiing and cold. I'd have rather had the Corvette!

First car I ever rode in as a baby was my dad's 1989 Ford LTD wagon

Kinja'd!!!

Like this one, but grey with the wood panelling. It was replaced with a 1994 Taurus wagon, but I still want one...

Conquest/Starion is my favorite 80s. Here I am driving away from responsibility.

The 80s was when I learned to drive (badly) and the Old Man had some pretty cool Jalop-friendly cars back in the day.

He ended the seventies with his Silver Fox Edition Audi, which I think he still had to begin the decade:

Kinja'd!!!

Then, there was the early T-Type Regal, White with Red interior and turbo:

Kinja'd!!!

This was followed by a company car Century, the car I actually learned to drive on (and hit a park policeman's wife on way to 16th bday dinner - didn't get license til 17):

But wait! There's more! (this Kinja thing is brutal ...)

After the Buicks was my favorite, the Nissan 200SX (S110 Silvia) - but I wrecked it a couple times and lost my driving privileges (these things are incredibly rare now, never see them):

Kinja'd!!!

This car gave me my love of Nissans. He eventually replaced it with a 300ZX, in his favorite White/Red color scheme:

Kinja'd!!!

Since I couldn't drive his car anymore, I had to make do with GF/1st wife's early Subie. This car hit 70 down hill with a tail wind. Imagine rustier:

Kinja'd!!!

That car, and a Loyale wagon I bought new in early 90's (the big white pig) are what, to this day, make it hard for me to believe that Subarus are performance cars now.

College mate had a dad who was a Saab dealer, and he didn't like to drive over the pass, so I got to hoon a 99 over Monarch from time to time (imagine brown, but snow is a propos):

Kinja'd!!!

Eventually me and 1st wife bought my first real car, a new 87 Sentra:

Kinja'd!!!

Loved that car and regret parting with it to this day, which is probably part of the motivation for getting the NX200o last month, kinda the ultimate Sentra ...

My dad had these in the 80s -

Two of these (one red, one white):

Vauxhall Viva HS

Kinja'd!!!

And one of these, metallic brown with a white vinyl roof:

Kinja'd!!!

Not too exciting, although the Viva was the first thing I ever drove (around a playing field) but my cousin had all sorts of cool or stupid cars in the 80s, such as a V8 Vauxhall Victor converted to a pickup, painted neon pink, back end jacked up, sidepipes and blue furry seats. For the unfamiliar, thats one of these:

Kinja'd!!!

Don't have any pics of it to show the sheer batshittery of it though... (I was 8!)
