I believe they went to 3 wheels so owners only had to pay motorcycle road tax instead of car road tax.

Just remembered a story about these things.. my friends dad had one as a teenager and thought it would impress the ladies. Driving past a bunch of girls, a heavy toolbox in the back just punched itself through the shitty flimsy body and fell into the road like the car had taken a shit while he rolled off down the street.
