Definitely a projector. You can see when the guy goes up to take a picture that the light hits him. I'm sure it took a lot of work to get everything to line up perfectly.

I didn't pay close enough attention haha.
But I've seen some impressive things done using a projector.
One haunted house made a statue look like it was talking using one
