SO Gran Turismo has gone through the first series of updates, with more to be added today. (Andretti's Legacy thingy.) Which I'm actually kind of ticked off about, since we now need to download two major updates back-to-back. Great. Anyways, after playing for a while, here are the cars I think the average player like me will need the most for the first couple of series.
Light Car Company Rocket. You can get this by getting Gold on the first set of three cars in the Goodwood Festival. Really worth it, makes up for lost straight line speed with excellent handling and great cockpit view. Must have for several earlier events.
Red Bull X2014 Junior. Holy crap. This one is fast, but you can't use it until later events. Great handling, MUCH, MUCH more controllable than the X2010 or '11. Excellent handling excellent view, pretty much great at everything.
BMW Z8. Good handling, and is very tail-happy if you push it too hard. Great fun, perfect for the <500PP categories.
Ford Focus ST. Pretty much the best starter car. Won every race I've entered, also great fun, etc, etc. This one is pretty obvious.
Renault Clio. If you're looking for a Tuner car this is it. Win it by doing something in A or B I can't remember tunes to a little over 500, but it was expensive.
Corvette C7. Damn they did this thing justice. Man, oh man, handles great also a good niche buster like the Z8. It feels nice to drive in the cockpit, and it's niche is a valuable one, the <600PP area.
So that is my Must-Haves list so far. List any must-haves below oppo.

I can't play because the fucking network times out when I try to download it. Come on Sony, I'm a PS+ member, this is really pissing me off. Although Grid 2 is free so I got it last night.

It's not a great car, but the Aventador is fun IF you upgrade the brakes.
The stock brakes are horrible .

Really? I haven't bought any major supercars yet because I am saving up for the Deltawing. I will try it once I raise the funds though.

What if there was a game that gave me all the cars that came with it by default? I mean, I'm already a pretty solid driver, so taking tests and reaching goals isn't really something I want to do. I just want to drive.

I second the rocket. That thing has been my go-to for a lot! I tuned the hell out of it for the iA championship...or iB...whichever one has you racing a Veyron. Courtesy of weird AI, I won.

I did the hack so I have a ton of cars and money. The delta wing is badass, but weird. Not in a bad way, it's just an odd experience.
I'm not a great driver by any means, but the Aventador feels held back by the brakes. It's very fast, but I feel like I have to brake at least 30-50 feet earlier than I do in say a C7, even going the same speed. I upgraded the brakes last night and it helped a ton.

The Rocket is huge!
I've also lived in a steadily upgraded BRZ. It's great for a second car, after the Fit, and I've steadily maxed it up to something like 530pp, which makes it really useful, and lets you save credits to spend on stuff you really need, later.

Dang, I have wanted thee BRZ too. Can you fit gold wheels on it?

I loved the Quattro in Matterhorn!

Is it good at Matterhorn? Good. I hate Matterhorn with all of my being.

Just a question, you are playing in the pad or with a wheel?
Matterhorn is hard.. but with the right car, is awesome!

This is a Ford Focus ST not a Fiesta ST. There doesn't appear to be a Fiesta in GT6

AHHHH!!! I will edit that right away, can't believe I didn't catch it!

It's more surprising that no one else noticed it either. They don't look that similar that you could confuse them at anything more than a first glance from a long way away lol.
I actually own a Focus ST in real life, it's a lot of fun.
