There are some VWs that we should be interested in:
Golf GTD
Golf R 4 Door
Passat (CC or Wagon) w/ 3.6L VR6 and 4motion (they do start at 45k though...)
Tiguan TDI, Tiguan with R appearance package
I think this is the Toureg V6 TDI R Design

The Sciorocco is in the western hemisphere.

You just have to meet these two simple requirements for ownership:
1) You are Canadian
2) You are happy to spend double the MSRP at minimum

Yeah, I'd seriously consider trading in my Mk6 GTI for the GTD. I really wish it came with factory roof mount holes.

Yes, yes and yes. I hope the GTD comes to Canada in another year so that I can trade up to the 280 lbs-ft deliciousness.

"Should" being the key word.
I really like some Jetta Sportwagen in theory, but the base Jetta loaner I got stuck with for a month had some seriously numb steering and pedal feel. Hopefully the higher-end models fare better, but geez. I want to feel what I'm doing in here, VW.
I will say one thing—the suspension even on a 28K mile rental spec Jetta was awesome. Bump all the bumps, ain't care, it's a Jetta. Good bump-softening qualities without being hopelessly floaty. The entire VW group knows their stuff there.
