Awesome. I've seen pictures of it in GRM before, cool to read about the build.

Saw a 2-door XJ the other day and had a thought of doing exactly this. Apparently I'm behind the times, though!
This may be the greatest build I've ever seen.

I'm guessing it's not 4wd no more?!
Also this was awesome.
"Guys, that is a JDM spec blue silicone boot. STAND BACK….WE’VE GOT A BAD ASS OVER HERE."

I hated it, until I read the article. This thing is amazing!

Man, I thought the same thing when I was out there talking to the guys. Tough as nails those inliners are! I think the key is not revving it like a F1 engine. They keep it to 5,000 which is where it stops making power anyway.

Frank, thanks for reading the story. It was a blast to write and hang out with those guys. Our, ummm, sight-seeing trip was fun, too. It has always been a 2WD Jeep, they have certainly modified that front axle, though.
I was hoping people would get the silicone boot joke. Glad you did!

Hey, thanks for digging the story. It is definitely one of the coolest things we have ever featured and the guys who built it are all cool as well. Bitchin' deal all around.

One of the guys that built/race this thing used to belong to a small forum I am part of. I posted about a few weeks ago. Easily the coolest XJ around.

They bought a 2wd cherokee actually (kind of a rarity around here, most new englanders have to have awd / 4wd)

Yeah I jumped the gun on that one and read later on in the article its 2wd. I just assumed all solid axle front jeeps were 2wd but forgot about the old school beam axle.

Awesome. Really awesome. That is all.
