Oy this team. It is so bad, with the not playing good thing. So bad.

That's pretty much it. There are so many details as to why they are failing miserably this season, but whatever.

If your team is sucking this season, feel free to share in the warmth of common suckitude.

Toronto has been shitting the bed pretty good as of late. They started of excellently but are well on their way to slipping out of playoff contention. Typical Toronto.

They're still in the hunt in the East, they don't have Howard playing tonight, and they've got a young defense. Zetterberg isn't playing either. I'm not going to extrapolate too much from this game, they've got time to improve.

That team was good for so long but the forwards are getting older and always finishing well doesn't lead to good farm teams for the most part.

That was a good game. Sometimes they do show up to play, I just wished they would do so more consistently.

As a Red Wings fan who is now watching a team in the same division of Toronto, I am thankful that the Maple Leafs are incompetent.

Alfie was pretty much the backbone of the Ottawa Senators, I don't know why he decided to go to Detroit this year.

I just wish NYR would, you know, score more than 2 goals a game like they've been doing since Jagr left.

Oh I knows.

I enjoy watching the GriffWings getting play time and our saving grace is that the East is excellently mediocre. As much as I love the addition of Alfie, he and Weiss' could have been left on the table while looking to cultivate/buy some defense (even though the last free agency was kinda meh unless you wanted to shovel cash at Subban and then have a player who wouldn't want to conform to the system); the assumption that having more offensive players would automatically yield more goals was a missed opportunity to look for some experienced D who can set up the breakout and take advantage on the power play. Also, this dump and chase hockey that Babs has been rolling with over the past few years is driving me bonkers. I still believe that they will make the playoffs but it will be ugly. A lot depends on how things heat up starting with the Winter Classic.

Still one of the best. Put in any other goalie on that team the past 6-7 years, it's a below 500 team every year.

I'm looking forward to the Winter Classic at least...both teams seem to be about even and, assuming that we get back some of our starters, the Wings shouldn't get blown out "at home." I have a lot of friends with tickets, I am just trying to decide if I'd like to go sit in the cold in those tiny ass seats at the Big House or on my comfy couch with as much liquor as I can handle and HD.

Word. Ken Holland has made some good moves and the Griffins (the AHL affiliate) is rock solid, the kids just don't get enough playing time with such excellent producers as Dan Cleary and Johan Franzen out their (eye fucking roll). Still, the picks from the draft have been middle of the road, which is why they have to spend 5 years or so in the farm system learning the puck possession style (which Babcock is currently throwing out the window) before they can come up.

From all I have read it was a bit of money and a bit of Melnyk not pulling the trigger to secure him.

Any which way, he is a really great player and a great addition to the Wings...but I am not sure he (or Weiss) were the BEST addition for the Wings based on need. Oh well.

Regardless of all the fan hate for Crosby, I can't begrudge him much. His family and my family are all Maritimers, he seems like he is a genuinely nice person off the rink, and the dude can play. Oh, and that Malkin guy ain't half bad.

I couldn't argue actually, I don't watch enough Rangers games to know (none). I just see that every time the Rangers play Swine (former? commenter) is on ranting and retweeting rants about Henrik's play and the length of his contract. Clearly I'm missing something.

No worries. I got no major problems with the Nucks (even when we were in the West).

Frankly I think the Wings only hate 1 team (the Ducks) and have mixed emotions about several (Avs for histories sake, San Jose because-fucking-playoff-combo-breakers, Blues for stealing the logo, and Chicago because why not).

It is so bad. We actually had a "Free Nyquist" campaign going on a couple of blogs because of how long they were keeping that poor kid in the system when he was NHL ready. So much wasted cap space for veterans right now.

The numbers don't lie... Every year except for last year (short season) he's had 30 or more wins (last year he had 24) and though this year he's not doing as well as we'd expect from him, I'm sure he'll get better as the season goes on. This team just isn't that good though...

I agree with you about both Alfie and Weiss, although the Wings needed a center to replace Filpula. I would argue that Nyquist can fill that role, but for some reason, Babcock didn't think so. I'm hoping some of the younger D-men develop into great full time contributors (looking at both Smith and DeKeyser; Smith is great on the offensive end and shows improving play defensively, and DeKeyser is unfortunately injured a lot).

Franzen is so inconsistent that it has become mind-boggling. I don't think he's worth the money he gets because of that. Cleary really shouldn't have been resigned.

That being said, there are some really interesting rookies that have been drafted by the Wings in the past three years. Tomas Jurco is a brilliant dangler; some of the things he can do with the puck are just magical, and I'm curious to see if he can bring it to the next level. Martin Frk was a great scorer in the QMJHL (although I don't know what he's up to this year). Anthony Mantha, their first round draft pick this year, was the only 50 goal scorer in the QMJHL (he might have been the CHL leader as well in goals), and I don't know why he fell through the cracks. Those guys all have offensive potential, so we'll see. I hope the Wings do give them a chance to make the team in full, but I'm not holding my breath for that.

My good buddy is a huge Wings fan, so please excuse my lack of tact. :D I don't hate the Wings, but the way he gloats every time they rock, makes me at least smirk when they suck. ;)

Don't worry, you'll get to playoffs and the Avs will again have something horrible happen to them injury-wise, Varlamov's trial will prolly take him outta play for a while and we're losing speed already anyway. I really don't see a cup coming to Colorado anytime soon. Now lemme go get back to that Dallas game. God their new outfits are horrible. That green. Nyugh.
