Kinja'd!!!

My buddy and I have been trying to find the best DD and I think we've found it

It's the Japanese version of the Holden Ute. It's got a 210hp Boxer turbo 4, all-wheel-drive, manual trans available, 22mpg avg, fits a family of 4, hauls your shit, autocross-able, and plenty of bolt-on goodies from the WRX and STI relatives.

How is this better than a regular Outback? Other than being one of the ugliest cars made in the last 30 years, that is.

How timely. Let me PILE ON this Scuby love fest by asking this question. What is the appropriate price to pay for something like this:

Thoughts?

I always thought I was the only one who lived these things... They are in my 5 favorite cars list... I wanted one as a first car so badly but they are A) expensive and B) my grandma said it was too redneck for her..
I loved them new and love them more now!

Got a wet dog? Anything that smells? Throw it in the back. You can hang stuff from your trip to Home Depot in the bed with the cargo basket

Depends if it needs a new head gasket or not. I'd pay around $6k-$7k for that

You could put a fridge in the back and you can throw crap in there without worrying about getting the inside of the car dirty. That's about it.

I saw one recently and was amazed at how poorly that design has aged (not just the Baja, that whole generation of Legacy).

I just don't think people see their true brilliance.

AWD - check

Decent mileage - check

Manual - check

Autocross'able - check

Hauls a family - check

Reliable - check

Doesn't cost a ton - check

And the fact that you can bolt on WRX/STI parts is just an added bonus

For all those fridges that I usually see people pushing down the side of the road?

ETA: I think that gen of Legacy still looks great as a wagon, less so as a sedan and WAY less so as a.... whatever you'd like to call this.

I would like one. I always need to haul horse feed and hay which is not exactly all that fun to do in a Mini Cooper. I just don't like the trucks handle. This is about the only Ute that we ever got in America.

I've searched for one endlessly and found that people who do/did own them drove them a lot and when they go to sell them, they know how fanatic/stupid Subaru buyers are and ask a lot for them.

I really, really wanted an XT with a 5 speed manual, but I wasn't ever able to find one within a reasonable price range, or one that didn't have 200k + miles on it.

Towing Capacity = 7000 lbs. All other arguments are already shaky because of that alone. But then you realize....you're in the last of the proper big cadillacs. A healthy V8, driving the rear wheels, with an unapologetically soft ride, and cushy seats. Yes, if you live in an area where you get snow 11 months out of the year, the baja is better. But anywhere else? Come on, wouldn't you rather have a corvette engined cadillac land yacht? It doesn't even matter if you're stuck in traffic, you just feel.....better. And you can easily tow behind almost any fun car you can imagine! This is important because the cadillac is terrible to drive hard. But you won't care. Because you can always take that much better car with you and save it for those special occasions. Let the cadillac tank bear the burden of the daily grind! Your sports car deserves to be enjoyed, not tortured in the stop and go of life!

Yes, because Subaru owners are strong and independent and don't need no man delivery service.

Edit - I think Subaru alternates with good and bad looking cars for each generation of Legacy. I hope they don't fuck up the next one because I think the current one is awful looking.

I beg to differ. As a Wisconsinite, when you play outdoors you typically end up getting dirty and so do your clothes. When you come back from a weekend up north, then this is perfect for throwing everything in the back including the 30-pt buck you just shot

I should probably add that I own a 2013 Forester, lest I be seen as a Subaru hater or something. The cargo area in these is entirely made from plastic with a removable rubber mat. They clean up very easily.
