Kinja'd!!!

I found all the cards I had when I was playing Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 and 3 at the arcade back in 2006-7. So much money wasted, so much friends made. I shred a tear when they closed the arcade.

Kinja'd!!!

My prized cars were a Corolla, a Celsior and a Rx8 until I gave it away. Both the Corolla and the Celsior were shitty cars but I enjoyed beating ppl with them in Hakone even more! hahahaahaha...ahhh memories.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, this is what I'm talking about.

I would go to class, see what the teacher had to say, leave in the middle of the class and go to the arcade. That's how addictive it was. I'm lucky the arcade closed their doors...

Aw man I used to have so many initial D version 3 cards. My favorite was my R34 GTR. I also had an S15 spec R and an RX-7 I liked.

I assume those cards are for saving and loading your cars and data? We have two Maximum Tune machines at an arcade near my place in Porto Alegre, but no cards, though... I've been taking pictures of the passwords that appear at the bottom of the screen after every race in hopes I'll be able to continue from them once I go back to town for my internships, I really hope I can hop back into my modded black Skyline and just race from where I left!

I had a red Hatchback Civic like Shingo on ver. 3. Later version...I think I took a Rx8. But I'm not sure.

That's right! I almost tried all the cars available in the game. The gods were driving Evos all the times. It was the top tier car of the game and I tried one from the so called god and it was effortless to drive compared to my Corolla or my heavy no traction Celsior.

I actually don't think I tried any others before jumping right into a nice, black R32. I just like that car too much not to use it, it's the same one I used in the Initial D arcades which we also have down there.

No password system for the ID machines though, so I just go from the top everytime I'm there, I'm actually getting faster and everytim I play I manage to go a little further!

Man...I would hate it to retry again and again and again. Will you guys get WMMT 4 and the latest version of Initial D?

The WRX was hax if you got the "secret" bunta version. But my beef with the R34 was that on Irohazaka it was possible to get stuck if your drift got you too sideways. Never drove the FFs though.

I don't know, probably not... Arcades haven't been big in Brazil since forever, there are a few still open. but mostly with old, patched up machines... This one in Porto Alegre is, I think, one of the best organized ones that I've been to, but they also don't get anything new on a regular basis, only keep their machines from becoming junk. There was another one I went to back in my hometown, but they only had games from the 90's and early 2000's, for example:

Kinja'd!!!

Sega's NASCAR, from 1999 or 2000 is one I grew up playing, until the shop where I went closed down in late 2008. I remember this game being actually pretty difficult, most people could barely keep the car going straight and winning was nearly impossible, specially in Talladega, to the point it wasn't even required to continue, you only had to finish a race to go to the next track, but I ended up getting so good at it I owned the top 10 screen. Every single entry was mine, haha... Most people who played "for real" would eventually manage to beat Talladega and Richmond, only to be wrecked at the first corner of Watkins Glen and give up playing afterwards.

Man, good times... Good times!

Sounds like us now...There's only ONE known arcade still open in our town as the rest of them got merged with cinemas. They don't have interest to upgrade the machines which is a bummer because I would gladly go back if they had WMMT4 machines.

Talking about hardcore game that makes you rage quit, have you tried this one?

Kinja'd!!!

This F355 challenge cabinet got me pissed so much. It's the hardest game I ever played to date and I never won a race since 2005! Great thing about this game is that it's fully manual and you have a clutch!

Yes, oh god, yes I have... Time and time again, but have yet to succeed at it. We have that one in Porto Alegre as well, and with all the assists and fully manual mode, it's also the hardest game I've ever played. It had just been moved into a more central position the last time I was over there, so I didn't get to play it, but now I really want to. It's not just hard, it's viscerally loud and harsh and awesome. Man, I totally have to get you some pictures of our local shop, there aren't many games, but most of them are racing games.

Will do sir, I'll get to it as soon as I'm back in town for my internships. Who knows, I might even use it as an excuse to invite this chick I'm kinda crushing on (massively crushing) for lunch and an afternoon at the mall, maybe even a movie. She took the same internship as I did, and our group is composed of just 4 people who aren't really acquainted to each other, so...

That is a fun activity to do for a date. If there's a bowling alley, then play a game with her. Even better if she doesn't know how to play, you get to teach her the basics.

Man, it's been a long while since I played WMMT.

The local kids here ruined it when they kept duping cards though. That was the last straw for Gameworks.

I know it probably sounds like I'm just pulling your leg now... but I swear there is a bowling alley at the arcade as well, second floor, in front ofn indoor pizza parlor, haha...

Bowling sounds like a good idea, I'll have to learn how to play it before I can teach her though :P

I'm left handed and my accuracy is off by a few football fields, so I probably suck at bowling beyond comprehension.

Well, it's inside a mall, so there is everything you'd find in a mall, but inside the arcade itself, there are most of the standard machines you find in most arcades (no shooting or fighting games though, it's one of those Politically correct places), there are a couple skill games that give out tickets, a few air hockey tables, a small but good lineup of pinballs, one of those swinging pirate ship things, a Jurassic Park themed machine that runs interactive movies or something (I never went into that one), the bowling alley is on the second floor, there's a pizza place right in front of it, across the mall corridor, and a japanese food place right next to it... I think that pretty much sums it up.

Au contraire my friend, you have one thing less to think about. Now invite her in a subtle way, not like "Hey, I think we should go out" or "Do you wanna go out with me?" and not randomly out of nowhere. Keep talking to her and make it comfortable between you two, crack jokes. Then say one day "Hey, X movie is going out this X day, I need a partner in crime to see it and I thought of you. Wanna come?". If you we're a Karaoke fan like me and there was a Karaoke place around I would say "Your voice sounds really marvelous, I'm sure you sing great! You know what? I go to this place where everyone sings their favorite songs and I thought you could add a lot to this place. Wanna come?". But when you say stuff like this, you gotta know exactly how to reply to her responses.

Haha, thanks for the heads up, I'm still trying to figure out if she was leading me on by pretty much laying out her january schedule and emphasizing how much she won't have anything to do after work and how her parents and friends wil le out of town or if she was just trying to cut the awkward silence... If I manage to ask her out, I'll probably take that angle, how we're both not doing anything at all and it's just too sunny outside to stay at home watching TV.

We always do and I did the same with a gorgeous girl that is currently a fashion show model. She gets invited in all kinds of expensive parties where I feel like a really, really poor guy. I thought, wth is she gonna do with a guy like me? I'm not good looking like all the guys she sees regularly, I'm not as rich neither. I'm useless. But I thought, wait a minute, I deserve any women I want. So I invited her to go out and she was really happy that I did asked her out. We both had a fun time. So be confident and never turn down yourself, you want that girl and you deserve it. Especially with the good deed you did a while back with the hot wheels. ;)
