My guess would be around maybe $40-50k for a good example, perhaps $18-22k for a bad example, but hey a good project. I haven't found many for sale, since they are pretty rare.
Look at it! MR British Lightweight goodness.

There is one for sale in my area like 8k but it's a possible basket case so you would have your work cut out for you

A good one goes for somewhere around 25K I think. Dont quote me on that though, I have seen very few in the US, A little earlier and I could have directed you to my buddies Lotus Elans, he sold it for 18K i think. one running car and a parts car..

25k should buy you a perfect Europa twin-cam Big valve - but you can even get them for $15k if you are picky and take your time. Here is a link to all the Europa's DT has posted in the past year. If really want to enjoy your-u-ropa-a experience, be sure to get a 71+ Twin-Cam equipped model - the 1.6 liter Renault engine is pokey.

I saw a couple of these at a classics race at Brands Hatch a while back. One of them was unbelievably fast, keeping up with some seriously quick machinery. Here it is lapping a Spitfire.
From what I understand, they're a bit tricky to work on due to space considerations.
Also, one of my dad's mates had one of these back in the day. He also had a bicycle. He reckoned he put more miles on the bicycle than the Lotus.
Still, with modern tech and materials you can make damn near anything livable day-to-day, and the drive would be worth the hassle a thousand times over.
