If Ford had been smart, they'd made the Fusion the new Taurus and made their full-size the Torino and gave it some muscle.

A new Javelin would be nice as well.

No.

For one, the Torino was always a midsize.

For two, the current Taurus SHO comes with 365hp. I'd call that "some muscle".

For three, the current Taurus is not the kind of car that deserves the Torino name.

Pity they never made a Lincoln version of this, they'd have a name for that upcoming, rumored 4 dr lincoln rwd car.

A name like Continental?

When I said muscle I meant the styling. The 3.5EB is a hell of a plant, but I'd say the Taurus design isn't anywhere near brawny enough to carry a classic nameplate like Torino.

I'm pretty sure even the smallest torinos are bigger than any fusion in terms of wheelbase and length. If it did come back, it would be a full size for sure. The late 70s ones were what, 210? 220 inches long?

The last Torino was in '76, and it was a midsize, slotting between the Granada and LTD in the line. We're not talking about bringing a 220" long car back. We're talking about bringing a sporty Ford muscle car called the Torino back. I don't think that'd be the right name to resurrect and put on the biggest Ford car in the line.

So you want a sporty ford muscle car that isn't the mustang....Then guess what? It would still be a full size. There is zero market for a mid sized 'muscle car" because then you're in pony car territory and ford already has the mustang.

The Torino you're thinking/dreaming about is a boat. The car you are saying you want, a mid-sized "sporty" ford muscle car is already made and it's called the mustang.

Did I say the Taurus shouldn't be renamed Torino, or replaced by a car called the Torino? Yes.

Did I say the Torino was considered a sporty midsize/intermediate car in the 9 years it was offered? Yes.

Did I say I wanted a new Torino, of any size, or think that there'd be a business case for bringing it back? No.
