And it wasn't a little bit, drove in snow the first time, which was a lot of fun and a bit different than I expected, as in: I hadn't expected that a 2 tonne front-wheel driven car can lose grip on the rear wheels in a corner.

(Picture taken around the corner from my place, sad it isn't my car...)

You're the one with the C6*, right? It's probably the most comfortable somewhat attainable highway cruiser of the last decade, but is it fun?

*(for the Americans here: Citroën C6)

Yeah, I have the C6, I think it is a very fun car, compared to something like a Golf I think it inspires much more confidence, I always think those are a bit nervous on the road here, because of the bad state of the asphalt. You do notice the technology is basically a decade old though, I think something like a modern Lexus has much smarter ESP/TC/ABS systems.

But obviously I do not have too much comparison material, I grew up in much more basic cars and have only driven VW otherwise (Passat, Golf, Polo)

Same problem with my parents' Passat, even on winter tires, the front end is heavier than the back (huge V6 in the front), it's a pain to drive on snow.

"Huge" "V6"

does not compute.

Huge as in heavy.

Yes, I know. I forget sometimes that in Europe cars are made of helium compounds.

Do you guys use road salt like in the 'States?

Oslo and a lot of main road are salted when the temperature is right, but there are a lot of roads that are just plowed clear when the snow falls. Everybody use winter tires so it's not really necessary to use salt.
