Sorry Ernie...this was last night and I was rather irritated by this. I'd click my little blue icon, the replies list would drop down, and I'd click on one. It would take me to a Kinja error message, something cryptic as usual. Try to open my "see all notifications"...a different cryptic message but I think "not authorized" was on that one. I was on my laptop in a hotel room so didn't do any screen captures...

Gotcha. Random 401s when trying to get to your private view (which is where your notifications are located) are still a thing. We're working on it but it's proved to be a pretty difficult one to nail down. For now, when you get the 401, refreshing the page should do the trick. Thanks for your patience, and for explaining.
