Side-visible lights/sill trim indicate it's a late IIa or III, but the rear lights have been replaced (no longer US spec), the rear reflector discs on the galvanized trim have been removed, and it's been through a chassis swap. Doesn't look like all the galvanized trim's been off, though. Hinges say late IIa, so probably something like a '69. Also, was originally fitted as a pickup and has converted to station wagonism. Those grab handles/ bumperettes on the rear are supposed to be galvanized, not painted, which might be a good indicator they're original - it's pretty easy just to repaint rather than find replacements. Those backup lights were fitted to a lot of Rovers, so they're about as close to stock as exists without being so.

Hell, an excuse to go to Maine and goof off and I'd probably buy the ticket.

any old time...though you have to deal with driving around in a Fox wagon, one of 2 Peugeot wagons, one of 2 Alfas, or a Volvo V70R. No Rovers in the fleet. Always beer flowing though to make up for it

Edit: almost forgot about the VW pickup

There are enough Oppo Mainiacs I'm surprised that there aren't regular meets. Wait, I bet there are and now I know too much. Shit.

VW pickup, one would assume Westmoreland Wabbit variety? I ran my diesel to from about 217,000 to 242,000 miles. I liked it, but I'm not the shortest man in the world, so the lack of backward seat adjust room would have pissed off someone less stubborn.

It's pretty typical for the doors to simply be bent at a different angle than the body by a degree or so, I find - i.e. tighter at the bottom and mid line than in middle of the lower half. Most of the rest of the poor fit you can adjust out with the strike plate adjustment and hinges, but ain't nobody got time for that.

haha the only regulars I see are myself and CalzoneGolem. If there are more I would schedule up a bunch of meets!

Totally a Westmoreland type. 156K mile diesel. Just snapped it up for $200 with a cap and a set of BBS's and a shitty paintjob with rust coming through, but whatever. Had a few type II's in the past, but sold for way too much money to hang on to...

haha yup, no a/c on this one. Though it does have the vinyl/velour seats, so not sure if LX or just a base (been cleaned up since this)
