I know the whole matte paint thing is sooo last year, but a proper matte-black still works extremely well with certain cars as evidenced by this:
As some of you may know, I work in the same building as BMW China HQ and there are lots of beemers around the office, usually 528Li's and M3's. This one sits a little farther away and I'm not sure it belongs to a BMW employee.
The wheels look great and the contrast between matte-black and chrome makes the long roofline really pop.

Just everyday Beijing. The avenues look new and are rather clean but go behind the buildings and you see lots of places like this one.

Agreed. I've got some lime green and baby blue matte cars that I pic'd around town. Might make an "ugly matte cars" post with them.

Don't care if its so last year, I love the matte look. It works best in black, although I saw an OD Green WRX that pulled it off real well..

Could be a grey import, though I'm seeing more and more 5 series tourings here and most of them seem to be 530's...
