Looks like the source crashed from the hype. I followed a search back though and found the joke. It's pretty clever.

Of course, you know what's actually happening: someone is shorting bitcoins and came up with this way to create a temporary scare in the market. And this someone is about to make a lot of money.

I don't think it will, I think everybody knows it is a hoax. It isn't that hard to create 100 bitcoin wallets and put anywhere from 0 to .001 of a cent in one and then make that list repeat indefinetly .
