Created by Underworld for the new VW GTI, this iOS app uses data from the car's computer such as RPM and speed. The iPhone's gyroscope, GPS and accelerometer are used to get steering and location data that are all used in the making of your driving soundtrack that is being played as you drive.

Here is a full, real-time experience:

I know that many opponauts prefer only hearing the music that comes directly from the machine they are driving but I can't help but find this interesting.

Interesting. My dad's 68 Charger already has a similar feature. The engine responds by roaring when you step on it playing the bass line. There's some percussive noises over bumps for rhythm. Also some high pitched squeaks here and there as little fills and licks. I call it the MOPAR symphony. My 72 Cutlass Supreme on the other hand... silence.

But in all seriousness. I could see that being distracting. Depending on how responsive the app is and with what sounds it responds with, I could see some people getting a little spook if you have to make a slightly quick maneuver.

I was sure someone would bring up something like that.

It is really not that distracting as the transitions are quite smooth. Just take a peek at the 2nd video!
