I’d buy it in some alternate reality where I had the money.

I’m not liking it any more for how expensive it is . I’d be a good Kia T elluride competitor but it swings way too far upmarket.

If anything it just looks more bland every time I see it

Can’t articulate exactly why but this just isn’t working. Also, if this is conceivably the best looking combination it comes in, I shudder to think about what a base level with black plastic and smaller wheels would look like.

I’ll be the odd man out and say I like it’s looks.
(ducks for cover)
EDIT: after looking through the pictures, I’m actually really impressed with how that interior looks. I know FCA will fuck it up somehow (they always do). But if the production version looks as good inside, it’ll be a strong contender to the Navigator/Yukon/Escalade.

Saw that and meant to reply—great read and good luck with your search. That black example you put in the post was gorgeous and really hope you get to the Drummond Island Jamboree—it was my first real off-roading trip (almost 20 years ago now) and absolutely awesome. Keep us posted on the hunt!

The angry collective taint of the Jeep hive-mind is growing ever tighter upon seeing this:

I think it looks like a decent generic large-SUV. Nothing about it says “Jeep”, but Jeep isn’t really Jeep anymore anyway.

Its like a slammed, elongated Renegade meets a Liberty mash-up. I dont know..not feeling it. Im sure ill see one in the flesh out where i live soon enough and maybe itll look better in person.

It’s the body color pillars. I watched the unveiling and they were going hard on how the pillars were supposed to be a heritage design cue but the OG had skinny chrome pillars and tons of glass, not this. Probably best to stick with darker colors where the pillars don't contrast so much with the windows. Or at the very least not white like this.

I still want to see it in back. I’ve hated every single case of non body color pillars that I can recall in the automotive world so I wonder if that’s the main thing that keeps me from liking this.
Also, put some 18s on it and let’s see how that goes. Gigantic wheels just aren’t my thing and there’s no denying more sidewall = smoother ride.

Overall I think this is a good looking rig. It has restrain and lines that, for the most part, actually make sense. I think kicking up the rear side windows is an odd choice when all their friends are flat bottomed, but it’s not a design killer. That said, it reminds me more of a Ford Freestyle than it does a Wagoneer. I dig that it’s based on the Ram chassis, but I hope Jeep makes a Jeeplike variant with off-road chops. Apply the Rebel to this platform. Give it some approach angle, ground clearance, beefy tires and sidewall. The Wagoneer was a period idea of a Luxury SUV, but it’s bones were utilitarian. Under the plush, couch-like seats and half acre of wood it was an ancient chassis with pedestrian roots and poverty-spec variants. That’s what makes it one of my favorite rigs of all time. This needs some of that! At least make it formidable off road like a 200 Series Land Cruiser. They’re become luxobarges, but there’s no denying their off road prowess.
Side gripe.
WTF is up with everyone using basically the same san serif font with gigantic kerning on everything? I get stretching it across the grill and rear, but couldn’t the design department come up with something cool for the doors? It’s just like R A M or S I L V E R A D O badge.
