I’ll post more photos from today’s inaugural Southern Indiana Oppo meetup sometime, probably Monday morning, but this bizarro vehicle couldn’t wait.

Ok, on with the show.
I got nothin’. No words can describe the weird joy/shock of spotting this.
What weird mods have you spotted recently ?

I'm used to seeing the old hacked up school buses they use to harvest melons, but that's on a whole other level, there's actual craftsmanship there

I dig it. Seats 10 and can carry Costco toilet paper on the modest sized flat bed.

I wonder how many people convert school busses like that?

Looking closely, it looks like they benefited from the fact that the body is basically riveted sheet steel. That bit of commentary leaves a gaping hole around why they did this. I share your combination of amusement and utter bewilderment..

There’s a guy a couple blocks from me who bought a short school bus (literally, a short bus. Like maybe 6 rows each side) at an auction. He’s been trying to convert it to a camper. Problem is it’s apparent he doesn’t go camping too often and he doesn’t have a driveway or a shop. So I will find the bus blocking either half of the entire alley or taking up competitive street parking and having to be moved around every couple of days of course so as not to get towed.

Back in the 70's, a school bus made a good race car hauler.

They can also be Jeep haulers.

Wilkes Co unty, NC had several of these around in the ‘70s . Not only to haul cars to the track but as crew haulers for the chicken farms. Th ey’d load crew inside and either chicken cages or a front loader on the back. I’m thinking retired Holly Farms buses became race car haulers. Or maybe both at the same time. Crew during the week, race car on the weekend.

That makes perfect sense. Holly Farms has been involved in motor sports for a very long time.

Aging Wheels isn’t a half-bad yt channel; his ‘Under Dunn’ 2nd channel is pretty good too for shop project stuff. I like that he doesn’t take himself too seriously.

at least it looks like they did decent work on it from what the pic shows, we had an older school bus a lot shorter where someone did a great job converting to motor home, when my son brou ght it home though he didn’t test it out on the road, just drove it around a little to make sure everything worked. we found out too late the rear end ratio was ri diculously low, at 55 the engine was sc reaming. we were going to put a different axle on it but found someone to haul it off. if any of you look at one check this out!

There’s a house not far from where I live that has this same thing made from a school bus, but the rear is a ramp-truck style thing to drive on and up and still have a camper’s worth of bus cabin inside. It’s pretty cool.
