Was going to go for a ride but it’s 50 and rainy. That means going for a drive in the Datsun is also off the table. I can only do so much cleaning and pickup.
I installed a new rear derailure on my son s bike along with cable and housing. Not easy but not especially hard either. It’s shifting great again. I just dusted my bike and cleaned and lubed the chain.
We are supposed to do a good length ride tomorrow if the weather cooperates. I’m not riding in the rain or snow with children tho .
The next project on the Datsun is the transmission mount, maybe new u joints on the drive shaft or a new rear diff to eliminate some vibration I’m getting at higher speeds. I am also going to pull the bumpers, straighten them out and put on new bumper rubber.

The not-quite-complete photo and partially open hood combined with your title made me fear an animal impact for a minute there.
I was relieved to see why you’re really sulking. Sulk away.

maybe go for a jog instead of a bike ride, 50 and rain is perfect running weather IMO

Aye but riding on muddy trails destroys them. He needs a rain bike for the streets.

My rain bike is at my aunts house in Santa Cruz CA. There are still trails I could ride but I don’t like being wet.

I check fluid levels before every drive. These old cars tend to randomly spring leaks. The Datsun is actually running really well.

I’m all bummed today because I finally got license plates for my $500 Jeep project and I can't even drive it because it’s not roadworthy yet like planned :(

I’d do that to a 280Z in a moment but not my series 1 240.

It’s more of a matter of not having any substantial rain since June and how dry everything is.

Yep. July was okay but by August it was getting so so dry. It’s like someone just turned off the faucet.

I don’t run. I always hurt myself when I try to run.

I feel your pain. I just put a bicycle rack on the Africa Twin and now the weather is crap so I don't even want to mock it up and take pictures yet.

I just got a YT Izzo Pro, and as you can see from the picture, the cables are a mess. I already knew this was going to be the case so I ordered new color matching stuff, and some fancy Jagwire pro link cables. I was going to pay a bike shop to do it to save the hassle, but he ended up screwing me over so I did it myself. But I remembered I hate adjusting rear derailleurs, and I still haven’t gotten the damn thing dialed in.

GX 12 speed is a bit tricky to get set up but once you have it dialed it holds the settings pretty well. The internal routing seems to be the latest fad and I won’t shed a tear if it goes away. Some companies are already going away from internal routing. You got a pretty nice ride there, I hope you enjoy it and get in some decent rides.

I had zero issues with routing all my cables in my bike, but I cheated and used the existing cables. Also, I didn’t have to replace them all. The Jagwire Link system is weird and you have to use traditional housing internally. But I still replaced the dropper and the hydraulic lines, but I just used the old ones to fish through the new ones. It was a cake walk.
I’ve already taken the bike to Big Bear and had a blast. I also ate through the organic pads the bike came with. Part of the problem is I weigh more than your average rider. But I used it as an excuse to go balls out with the brakes and upsized the rear rotor too, so now it’s 203 front and rear. I have more than enough stopping power to throw myself over the bars.
