Well, I guess I can’t browse Kotaku or Jalop nik on my phone anymore. Tried to read an article and I got an unskippable, unremovable video banner at the top of my article playing anti-abortion ads. Lovely. Oh, and then once it plays long enough, it crashes the browser.
I think this might be because I just upgraded to android 11, but it’s still really annoying. Between this and the unreadable layouts they have now, I think I’m done with Jalopnik and Kotaku for good since I literally can’t even browse them now.

My pet theory: someone on the dev team at Kinja had a crisis of conscience, a moral self-reckoning that energized them to use their powers for good in the world. Seeing the state of the Kinja blogs and their “content”, this would-be hero (or heroes) has decided to systematically and irretrievably break Kinja in all its forms so as to save its readers from irreversible cortical degeneration and chronic, stress-induced diseases.
In short, we have a friend in the Kinja dev department looking out for us. Instead of bug reports, we should be sending thank you notes and possibly flowers.

In other words, shit posts.
Reading your comment, you must write one heck of a grant proposal.

I’m not there yet, fortunately. But there are others who are in very bad shape right now. If my wife didn’t have a great job, I’d be driving for Amazon.
The Metropolitan Opera announced today that they are canceling their season next year. Nobody in that orchestra will be working for a long time. I don’t know if they have enough of an endowment to keep paying people. It will depend on what concessions they can get from the unions.

Shit. The Art s will go on, of course, but the people in it now may not all make it through, by no fault of their own. That stinks.
