A stupid fking face on some stupid fking cars that are probably otherwise stupid great to drive.
I thought MAYBE they wouldn’t ruin the M3 with the stupid 4 series’s stupid fking face. Turns out stupid me was wrong, because it’s 2020 and we can’t have nice things anymore. I give up.

Maybe they’ll fix it with the LCI, aka when I might be in the market for one. By in the market for one, I of course mean the stars align and I have the funds to get one.

can’t blame 2020 for this, the 3 series was ruined around 2011-2013

We’ve gone into “Grilled Lettuce” territory:

Oh no...I like it.
Maybe I just like ugly cars though, we bought a 2018 C ivic hatchback and I like that too.

Never give up, even when facing down a nose like that. This year can improve still, and we’re here for you on Oppo.

I like the rest of it. The front seems like your garden variety polarizing and overdone grille but I've warmed to that sort of thing in the past. I don't think it will ever look great per say but I'm not dying on this hill. I just wish they had toned it down to match the rear.

each kidney grille does kinda look like a head of romaine

I... don’t mind that lime green version. At least not from that angle. The dark green on the other hand is putrid.

I agree, the side and rear are plain, but attractive. The rear feels a bit lexus like to me, but I’m ok with it. That face though. OOFDA.

But at least the colors are good.

This thing better sell like freaking hotcakes in China.

It's not boring and BMW's corporate faces haven't changed much in a decade besides grow larger. I don't like it but I understand it.

Like many things to do with BMW, it’s a turd. A powerful, complicated, breaks-often, too heavy, bitch-to-repair, turd.
So says I, a 2-time former BMW owner.

I feel like whoever is the first aftermarket company to do a moderately attractive and understated face onto these is gonna make a killing.

I absolutely fucking love it. I’m also high on Cocaine, sniff sniff

The F-chassis cars were at least attractive. Maybe the steering wasn’t as good and the engines weren’t velvety smooth NA sixes anymore but the at least looked great.

You know what’s odd? I think it would look better with a beefy push bar .
I also can’t wait to see how many aftermarket companies try to cover it up.
I still think the overall design is boring AF. The 3 series has never really been an interesting design, but the proportions are looking distinctly FWD. The cab feels too far forward and the front overhang is huge.

I would assume that as well. I don’t hate everything about it, and wouldn’t mind buying a green manual M3 new. Maybe it’ll grown on my like the original E90 did. Give it 4-5 years I will probably have the funds to consider getting one, which is why I was hoping it turned out to be better looking. I tend to keep cars for a while, with the exception of my 128i, so it wouldn’t be the worst thing for me to get a brand new M3 and get exactly what I want.

They definitely made the steering better in the later F30s, or at least I thought they did. I’d DD an F30 no problem.

Agree, but the steering rack in particular is a complete deal breaker for me. It is what attracted me to a 3 series over every other car. Subaru and Porsche managed to figure out electronic steering...where is everyone else?

This looks like something BMW’s joint venture partner Brilliance, or some other Chinese automaker would come out with as a cut-price pseudo luxury car, and that we’d all damn with faint praise by saying “it looks decent for an off-brand Chinese car at that price”

Honda & Mazda are good at it too. Honda been doing it since the S2k and Mazda since the RX-8.

There’s an Italian

In fact, I think it’s a
pretty common thing to do

So the aftermarket can certainly fix this. Someone is going to make a few bucks making a very good car attractive as well.
