Driving a smart with broken springs (and therefore technically lowered) up a small waterfall in Tennessee, just like last year!

Yes, that’s a different smart than my sky blue 2012:

Sadly my build went all kinds of south and I only achieved half of what I wanted to do. Didn’t even have time to remove the markings from the guy that sold me the car (shame about his computer business). This 2008 has roughly half the ride height of my 2012 and man what a huge difference did it make.

In the end though, this little smart did more hardcore stuff than even my 2012 did and suffered no real damage from it. We have some plastic bits to replace and that’s it . That said, the weekend was so rough on the little guy that we aren’t going to subject it to gambling again. We expected the car to take some hits just like my 2012 did but this onslaught...oh this felt painful to us . The wheeling was so rough this year that the fuel tank was in danger of puncture. But it’ll be fine. The car will get new plastics, maybe a color change (hot pink?) , and become a shared daily between the two of us. :)

Our next G500 car is already slated to be a Toyota Camry, then either a minivan or ratty Powerstroke van. More to come later!

I’ve seen that tunnel mentioned on some Jeep forums recently, but I can’t remember what the name of it is. EDIT: Nemo Tunnel. Finally found it in a thread.

Then I had a homework assignment due and a quiz due on the same night.

I was tired.

i hiked down to the gunnison river and swam around and played like a little kid in 90 degree temps. The remoteness and the 4x4 road to teh trailhead ensured i was the only person there other than a few folks who were floating the river.

More channel nuts and M6/M8 bolts than you can shake an allen wrench at.

Long story short, this is where this year’s racing budget went since going out to autocross and other non-essential social activities during These Times™ are non-starters for our household. Got everything assembled last weekend despite the obnoxiously minimalist instruction set.  All that’s left is to wait for the cheap NRG seat I ordered 3+ months ago to show up... I’m half tempted to just go pull the passenger seat out of the Exocet at this point.

beautiful! I have basically no river skills and just got my first SUPs but now that my gf and i moved back to far western colorado im going to get on the colorado/gunnison/delores out here and see how it goes.

Ive got my eye on a few packrafts as well in case my interest/skills increase. Looks like you must have had a blast, thats a cool part of the country.

I want to get out and run those rivers, I hear they are really good! SUPs are definitely fun for some lower class rapids but quickly get tossed around in the bigger stuff. I have always been weary just because our local river is super shallow and if you fall off you are going to hit bottom. Packrafts are awesome! I have friends with them that use them alot but if you aren’t going to be hiking in to float, duckies are usually a better alternative (also called inflatable kayaks with bigger raft style tubes)

Trip was a blast! 6 days on the river and only saw two other groups

Now that i live on the CO/UT border basically all i see are ppl towing their various ways to get on the rivers. Definitely looking forward to increasing my skillset and enjoying it. Thankfully there are lots of spots out here just right for total newbs like myself.

Ill have to consider the hiking vs driving when it comes to upgrades in the future wrt to duckies vs packrafts. Basically at this point im just happy to be here and to be able to add something new to my outdoor arsenal.

Your trip sounds fantastic. That is some of the last wild river area in the lower 48, if i recall correctly. Glad you got ot enjoy it.

My weekend was pretty boring. I’ve got an annoyingly busy week too. At least I have a consistent waking up time on weekdays (8:20 AM isn’t too bad).

Not a whole lot happened this weekend, but I’m curious to know more about yours. Where is that? It looked like a whole rally event (as well as a colossal heap of fun).
