That’s mighty impressive. How big was the downhill for you to get that?

That was over 440 miles, still had 4 gallons left when I filled up.

I’ve seen upwards of 35 in my Camaro. Always fun to correct friends who assume it guzzles.

Before buying my Volt I tried to convince my wife that a Corvette with a 6-speed was a legitimate option to save gas on a long commute compared to my 4-speed auto truck. It didn’t work, but I’m glad to see it being confirmed I was correct.

Wow. That’s impressive. I remember getting close to 30 once in my GTO but never over.
I average about 23 in my GTI in mostly city driving (!)

Corvettes are surprisingly fuel efficient if you can stay out of the throttle on the highway. Hell I’m staring down 21 mpg in my Ram.

It’s amazing what you can accomplish with a light, slippery body, tall gears, and an engine that makes enough torque to do interstate speeds
while turning under 2k RPM.

I averaged 25 mixed in my GTI. The highest I could ever get out of it was 30.4.

Highway mpg can get truly impressive with the most surprising engines. I used to get closer to 30 than you would think possible on road trips in my RX-8.

Two buddies with C7s... both regularly get into the 30s on highway driving sanely

In my Golf I usually get somewhere between 8 and 37 mpg.

Driving down to portland and back.
It’s crazy what performance cars can get when driven conservatively.

but then you have to drive it like one... I think I see about 19-21 MPG avg with my LS3 C6. The loud pedal tempts me too much .

It’s technically the most effecient thing in the family fleet, including a Pontiac Vibe GT and an Azera 3.3.

Mixed driving I average 18. Following a Uhaul truck for 500 miles helped my average out a lot. That being said, this was all 70+ mph. It gets 27 at 85.

Whats your Azera get? The 3.8 isn’t great on fuel AT ALL.

I got this (just over 40 freedomliters/kilo yard) out of my WRX recently because I had to drive about 50km to get gas and my range read 0 as I headed out (my brother had borrowed the car and left me with that). Hypermiling is a painful way to drive but it got me there; I got my normal ~25mpg on the way home.

I got >30 mph on a 140 mile drive in my 1970 Datsun 240Z. Some say it’s impossible but if you drive 50-60 mph in top gear and avoid hard accelerations it’s quite easy.

I think I have a lead foot because my 1.6T returns 12 L/100km which is around 20 mpg, I think. Then again, it's purely city driving, it's rare that I ever need to get on a highway (where I can get 7-8 L/100km depending on how much passing I do).

I don’t know if this is the right forum to be saying this in...but my 2004 Prius (with 215,000 miles) still achieves 50 mpg during conservative driving and 58-60 mpg when I’m in “hyper mile” mode. This is the combined highway/city milage performance. (If anyone is interested I’ll let you know how my 2012 Prius V is doing :)
Maintenance? 2 sets of tires, synthetic oil change every 7,500 miles, trans fluid drain & fill twice and brake pads & shoes at 120,000 miles. Air and cabin filter wash and dry every 20,000 miles or so and replaced the 12v ignition battery ($107) at 155,000 miles. Least expensive car to own I ever had...and still runs like a good clock.
