Look any closer and its REALLY dirty.
I may have also made it dirtier in this dirt parking lot but you cant be sure, it was a little breezy so I swear the giant dust cloud wasnt from me.
Beautiful day. Nice to not have smoke today. Im sure there is still particulate in the air but I had to get out and bike while I could see the sun. A bit hot but a fun day nonetheless.
View from the top, although from another day in July when I hiked it because I forgot to bring my phone on the ride:

Looks good, the dirtier the better....it's like SPF for the sun, gotta protect the paint, right?

Dirty cars are good cars because it means they are being used properly.

Is your bike in the passenger seat? I bet the roll bar helps. When I bought a
bike off Craig’s list I brought it home in the passenger seat on my NB, but the whole way
I was worrying
about hitting a pothole and having the bike bounce off
the rear window a
nd break it
. Also there was nothing to tie it down to, so if
I’
d gone h
ooning in a parking lot,
it would have either flown out or hit me in the head.
My car was
damp. We had bright sun and no rain today for a change so I cleaned
the roof drains. In your NB they’re easy to get to, just fold the seat forward and there they are,
but in an NC they’re
almost
impossible to get at
. The dealer wants $700 to do it, they
have to disassemble half the interior for access.
The worst part is the
plastic panel they put right over the opening, why why why?
A while back the driver’s side drain got completely clogged so there’d be an inch of rain water in the footwell every morning. I didn’t disassemble the whole interior, instead I cut away the part of the plastic panel over the drain hole with a hacksaw blade and reamed out the drain with a trombone brush. But until today I hadn’t chopped up the panel on the passenger side. It took an hour, now you can look straight down on the opening on both sides. I cleaned out a year’s worth of wet tree crap so I’m not driving around in a mobile swamp any more. Also I’ve only been driving at night and if you only drive at night for several months, it’s amazing how grubby the interior can get. It was so nasty, but it’s clean now.
Good luck with thos
e fires! I hope it rains.

The bike is indeed in the passenger seat!
It actually mounts pretty securely to the roll bar. I just use my U lock plus two bungees. Doesn’t move at all although the wind noise with it up high like that is annoying. Normally I take off the front wheel which gets it a bit lower but I wanted to try it with the wheel on. My top is hopelessly ruined anyways so I’m not concerned about it. Once I replace the top some day I’ll probably do this less. I would have probably taken the Subaru but the tires are sketchy enough that it’s worth just waiting to drive it at this point.
And yeah I haven't bothered with the drains but it's worth doing even though it never rains here.

You've gotta be having a panic attack with that lol

Haha well if it goes missing I'll know where to look first! You try on the wheels yet?

Not yet, been busy doing other things. Might give them a try tomorrow. Oh, are they hub centric or need the rings?

Nope

Im pretty sure they need rings but only two of the wheels had rings when I first removed for maintenance. And I never bothered ordering new ones. So I suppose its “fine” without them. But since youre gonna want to wait for tires before driving much on them, might as well order rings too. Just gotta figure out what size and id recommend aluminum instead of those stupid plastic cheap ones.

We have rings on the bent wheels , so hopefully those will fit on these too. We are just going to take the ruined tires off the wheels, clean them, paint them, and then have the tires transferred from the bent wheels to these wheels since they are the same size.

Oh neat, good idea. Yeah that should work. The rings often dont fit from one wheel to another unfortunately. But you never know, might get lucky. Please dont tell me you are painting them black even though I know thats what he probably wants lol.

Yeah the rings didn’t fit, but it was worth trying anyway.
Yeah, he likes black wheels, especially on black cars. No I don not understand it either.
