Wo t’you got ‘gainst peejins? They don’t do anything but swarm around and try to smother you if you happen to carry anything resembling food.

They are airborne vermin.
Their faeces damages cars, rots architecture (it really damages stone, etc... ), their faeces are dangerous to those with respiratory ailments.

On Oahu the Hilton cheaped out in the 1970's and was using white pigeons for weddings, so now if you look around Oahu there are a lot of white and marbled pigeons as a result.

The green car is a Hyundai Matrix. I think they all came in that colour.

Ooh, what's this? Looks pretty good for what I imagine is some sort of cheap and disposable car over 20 years old.

Not sure if there are any redeeming qualities about that teal Hyundai Matrix.

It’s a Peugeot 106, one of the most popular car (with it’s sibling the Citroën Saxo) for cheap trackdays and rally cars as it’s cheap, small, light and with a good playful chassis.

It’s a Peugeot 106 series 2. The 106 Rallye variants where the best. 100bph at 7200rpm. Power band was between 6000 and 7200 so you really had to thrash it all the time. Most fun car I ever owned. https://www.evo.co.uk/peugeot/106/rallye

That one looks pretty good for such an old car that has likely been driven hard and put away wet many times. It doesn't even seem to be modified and still has intact paint!

In Europe, being a small car doesn’t mean it’s a cheap or disposable car, while those were cheap they are also a practical city car and most of them are under a ton so even if they are now “old tech”, they still have good mileage and are reliable (they only were sold with NA engines).

Yes, but sometimes I forget it. I didn’t know those had a cult following for their handling.
It takes a special small car indeed around here to be kept for a long time (FiST or F oST for example ) while everyone and their uncle has a 2 0+ year old pickup truck in the family.

Handling is more important than power around here and the most popular (in the literal sense of the word ) motorsports here is rallying so they are quite common as cheap rally car s, you can buy kits for those with pre-made rollcage and required equipment to do rallying or hillclimbing for less than 10 00€ and there are plenty of racing aftermarket parts for those .

I guess it makes that one all the more special that it appears to be totally stock and in very good condition. That just be like finding a Nissan 200SX that hasn’t been raced (they don’t exist anywhere).
Rallying never seems to have really caught on here. Too bad as I love the sport.

While many of the S16/GTi have been modified or used as a fun car, most of the common trim has not been (and they sold almost 3 million 106 on it’s 12 years lifespan and 1.6 million Saxo on it’s 7 year lifespan ) so it’s still quite common to see one and they are now starting to be youngtimers .
I t was competing against the Twingo MK1 (that sold to “only” 2.6 millions on it’s 10 years lifespan ) , less quir ky but with sporty versions available and available with 5 doors .

I wonder how many of those 3 million are still on the road? At any rate, is it getting less common to see those in the condition of the one above? Seems like anything over 20 years around here begins to show some major aging on the clearcoat and interior, especially if it is a common low trim car like that . Plus that one had some remarkably good condition hubcaps.
My thinking went more along the lines of comparing it to the Chevy Cobalt coupe and other cars like that. It was cheap when new and the ones that survived were modified to look like the exclusive fast variants by young people on a shoestring budget, which invariably sent them to the crusher sooner than they might otherwise have. It’s gotten so that now you see far more Cobalt SS coupes than fake SS coupes because their clientele treats them so differently. Well, now even the SS coupes have gotten cheap enough to be modified poorly by yabos.
